A place where history and wilderness converge.

Designed in the spirit of exploration and inspired by the romance of old-world Africa, the lodge evokes the era of great journeys and enduring discovery

About the lodge

Fort Murchison takes its shape from the old river forts: thick walls, a rooftop terrace and a long view over the Albert Nile. It sits just outside the northern boundary of Murchison Falls National Park, in what used to be the Aswa Lolim game reserve.

Below the lodge the river moves slow. Hippos work the shallows, and the birdlife along the bank is constant. There is a pool for the middle of the day, when the heat here is serious.

Accommodation comes in two levels: en-suite Luxury Rooms with their own terrace, and Explorer’s Tents on raised platforms that share a bathroom block.
